Faridabad on the threat map

Faridabad, the industrial city of Haryana adjoining the national capital Delhi, heaved a sigh of relief as yesterday passed peacefully amidst talk of a terror mail. City police has tough time maintaining the tight vigil in the wake of hoax mail received on Monday.

In case of emergency these toll-free numbers given by the administration can be used: 100, 1077 and 102 for medical assistance.

SSP Shrikant Jadhav addressed the people of Faridabad through local cable network and called for maintaining vigil, calm and also assured that police is capable of protecting people from any threat.

The office of the deputy commissioner on Monday received a postcard, dated October 1, with a forewarning that seven places will be bombarded on October 7. The sender claimed to be a member of the Indian Mujahidin.

A quick survey yesterday revealed that security is really stepped up. In sector 29 a small cultural gathering was organised by the Bengalis and police personnel were there maintaining the crowd in a manner which have not seen in the recent memory.

The seven places written in Hindi in the postcard were Old Faridabad Railway Station, B K Civil Hospital, NH-1 Market, Vaishnav Devi Temple, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Sector-12 SRS Mall and Shubham Tower.

This is the third time in quick succession when the threat calls/mails proved wrong. It is said that it may be the signal of a real threat. After serial blasts in Delhi almost all hoax generated in Faridabad and two persons already detained in connection with the calls made before the blast.
