CM pressed for Metro-line (Badarpur-YMCA Metro) in Faridabad

The proposed Badarpur to YMCA Chowk Metro line got a fillip from the Haryana CM when he pushed for the INR 2082 crore project having a length of 13.875kms.

Haryana Government and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRCL) passed the project in 2007 itself and the nod of Delhi government is awaited, according to officials.

Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor
The Times of India reported that the work on the 20 km-long metro route connecting Central Secretariat with Badarpur is in progress and expected to be completed by September 2010. The government on June 19, 2009 approved the transfer of 450 square metres of defence land in South Delhi to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The transfer of defence land, approved by the Union Cabinet, will facilitate construction of Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor in Phase-II, Union home minister P Chidambaram said. He said the corridor is to be taken up for early implementation so as to commission it before the Commonwealth Games next year.

At present, the DMRC runs 70 trains (280 coaches), with a ridership of 8.5 lakh daily. With the opening of new lines in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and Badarpur in Phase II, this number will go up to 153 trains (900 coaches). Orders for 424 broad gauge coaches and 196 standard gauge coaches place for Phase II. 20 lakh is the expected ridership by September 2010, the scheduled time for the completion of Phase II.
