Elevated road on Shahdara drain will decongest traffic between Faridabad and Noida

To be built on the lines of the Barapullah road, the 5.8km elevated road will start from the Chilla Regulator in Delhi and go up till KalindiKunj-Noida border. It will not just decongest Noida, but also reduce driving time between Delhi, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.

Starting from Chilla Regulator ( Mayur Vihar) in Delhi to Kalindi Kunj located on the border of Noida and Faridabad, the Shahdara drain enters Noida city at sector 14, 14A and runs along sector 95 to drain out into the Yamuna below the Kalindi Kunj Bridge. Along the way, the drain flows under bridges located at Udyog Marg, Master Plan-I road, Master Plan-II road and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway link road. The proposed elevated road will run parallel to this route, officials said.

Estimated to cost about Rs 525 crores, the stretch will be 5.8km in length and would serve as a dedicated fast-access corridor for vehicles. To be constructed on stilts, each of the carriageways is proposed to be three-lane on either side.

Gurgaon-Faridabad e-way still accident-prone, unsafe

Two years ago when the Gurgaon-Faridabad road was upgraded to an expressway, the residents of private posh colonies and Sikanderpur village on the road were hopeful about getting better infrastructure. But to date there are no streetlights and safety measures on the entire stretch, thus making it highly accident-prone and unsafe for commuters.

Very few road bridges on Yamuna

With only eight road bridges across the Yamuna in the capital, moving between different parts of the city and the suburbs of Noida and Faridabad is a test of patience. Despite massive development in the city's east and northeast in the last decade - resulting in a corresponding jump in population and vehicular traffic in these areas - only one new bridge was built across the Yamuna in the same period. Most of the bridges in Delhi are from the 1990s.

The Kalindi Kunj Bridge or Okhla Barrage is one of the worst bridges. Built in 1984, it has not seen major repairs in 28 years. It was built with a daily capacity of just 10,000 vehicles, but more than a lakh vehicles from Delhi, Faridabad and Noida use it every day now. 

New road to speed up South Delhi traffic to Faridabad

In what will be a major relief to south Delhi commuters bound for Gurgaon and Faridabad, Delhi government's public works department is undertaking construction of a four-lane road from Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road to Gurgaon-Faridabad road.

This 9km corridor is expected to help commuters from Mehrauli, Greater Kailash, Chhattarpur, Saket etc avoid jams on NH-8 and NH-2. The Rs 597-crore project will be funded by the urban development ministry, said officials.


"The road, called Mandi Road, exists now as a two-lane road riddled with potholes and without a central verge. Widening this road to a four-lane double carriageway will help commuters bypass the more long-winding and congested routes currently available," said PWD minister Raj Kumar Chauhan.

The road will begin on MG Road, go through Gwala Pahari and end at the Gurgaon-Faridabad road, providing the shortest connect with Faridabad from south Delhi, said officials.

Faridabad-Gurgaon 4-lane link opens, with toll plaza

Reliance Infrastructure Limited (RInfra), part of Reliance Group, has commenced the operation of its sixth road project through its Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), GF Toll Road Private Limited from Gurgaon to Faridabad. The four laning of Gurgaon - Faridabad and two laning of Ballabhgarh - Sohna road have been completed and toll collections have been started.


Built at a cost of Rs.800 crore, Gurgaon Faridabad corridor connects major tourist destinations, industrial zones, corporate offices and International airport (T3) of Delhi. This 66 kms long corridor includes Gurgaon-Faridabad, Ballabhgarh-Sohna, Pali Bakri, Surajkund Road.

The 25 kms Gurgaon-Faridabad road starting from Gurgaon's Mehrauli Road at Sikanderpur and ending at the junction of Pali Bhakri road in Faridabad, involved widening of the existing two lane road to four lanes. The 6 kms of Municipal Corporation of Faridabad road leading to Surajkund and 3 kms of Crusher Zone Road were also constructed for the benefit of the commuters.

The 28 kms Ballabhgarh- Sohna (BS) road starting from Ballabhgarh (35kms on Delhi- Mathura Road) and ending at Rewari - Palwal involved re-construction and widening of two lanes. This stretch also includes 4 kms road from Pali village to Faridabad - Gurgaon junction.

Pay toll for zip drive from Gurgaon to Faridabad

Commuters using Gurgaon-Faridabad Road will have to pay toll from mid-April when this 25-km stretch becomes commercially operational. Car users will have to pay Rs 15 per trip while the user fee will be higher in case of other category vehicles.
Haryana PWD had given the contract of widening the road to Reliance Infrastructure on build-operate-&-transfer basis. "The work is almost over. Now, the developer has put the infrastructure in place to collect toll," said Mahesh Kumar, engineer-in-chief, Haryana PWD.

DMRC begins work on Badarpur-Faridabad Metro link

In good news for residents of Faridabad, Delhi Metro on Wednesday began construction of the 14-km link that connects the satellite city with the national capital. The laying of foundation for piers/pillars on which viaduct will be put up began today at Faridabad in the presence of Delhi Metro Managing Director Mangu Singh and officials from Haryana Government. The first piling work started near Sector 28, Faridabad on the Mathura Road National Highway.The fully-elevated corridor, the longest Metro line in the NCR, will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2,533 crore by 2016 when the Delhi Metro's Phase-III is expected to be completed. The Badarpur-Faridabad link is an extension of the existing Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor and will be integrated with it after completion. According to the Detailed Project Report (DPR), the daily ridership of this 13.875 km Metro corridor is expected to be 2.14 lakhs (in 2014 after commissioning of the corridor for the public). The civil contract for the construction of this corridor has been awarded in February, 2012, and the corridor will be commissioned by end of 2014.

The average height of the pillars on this corridor will be approximately 9 meters and over 500 piers (pillar) will be erected to make the viaduct for this corridor. "On this corridor, Delhi Metro will be using specially designed pre-cast U shaped girders to complete the viaduct in a short time of 20 months. This is for the first time in Delhi Metro's history where a single span of approx. 27 metres in length and weighing about 160 tonnes will be used," a DMRC spokesman said.

L&T bagged contracts for Faridabad metro corridor

L&T has also bagged the construction of entire viaduct for the Faridabad corridor, which is an extension of the Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor.

The 14-km Faridabad corridor will be completely elevated and is also an extension of Line 6 from Badarpur to Faridabad. This section (Badarpur-Faridabad) will have nine stations at Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 27 A, Badkal More, Faridabad Old, Ajronda, Faridabad New Town and YMCA Chowk. The section is extremely important because around 180,000 people from neighbouring Faridabad are expected to benefit from it. “The contractor will have to complete this project in 20 months,” said the spokesperson about the contract for viaduct construction.

Elevated metro corridor to Faridabad coming up

The Delhi Metro will extend up to neighbouring Faridabad during Phase-III of its construction through a completely elevated corridor covering about 14 km. The route will be an extension of the existing Line 6 (Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor) and will be built on standard guage.

The depot will come up near Faridabad Sector 20-A and the receiving sub-station will be located at Sarai.

The Faridabad link will prove to be an important link for the Delhi Metro, with its daily ridership expected to go up to around 1.79 lakh.

HUDA to give DMRC 12 acres for Badarpur-Faridabad metro-link

The Haryana Urban Development Authority has decided to hand over about 12 acres of land in Faridabad to set up Metro stations for the Badarpur-YMCA chowk link to the DMRC. The 13.8km-long Metro line to Faridabad will be elevated with nine stations including Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 27A, Badkal Mor, old Faridabad, Ajronda, Faridabad New Town and YMCA Chowk.

Tenders have been floated for construction of Badarpur-Faridabad Metro corridor.

Metro link to Faridabad on track

Under Phase 1 of the project, a completely elevated 13.875km long Metro track will become operational from Badarpur to YMCA Chowk in Faridabad within two years from the commissioning date. There will be nine stations on the route. Phase 2 will entail extension of the Metro link up to Ballabhagarh.
The project aims to ease traffic congestion and bring relief to lakhs of daily commuters from Faridabad.
Officials said the revised project cost has been estimated at Rs 2,533 crore and the Haryana government will pitch in about Rs 1,588 crore for the link. The central government will bear an expenditure of Rs 544 crore.

Haryana govt plans radio taxis for Faridabad
