Haryana govt asked to increase Mangar forest cover

After concerns were raised about the Haryana government's plan to put a huge patch of forest area in Mangar and its adjoining villages in Faridabad under residential, agricultural and industrial use, the local town and country planning department has proposed that the state government double the forest cover.


Against the department's earlier plan to put only 1,822 hectares under the forest category in the Draft Mangar Development Plan 2031, the new proposal seeks to increase it to approximately 3,800 hectares. This may upset the plans of real estate developers and those eyeing to own a farmhouse in the Aravalis.

The state-level committee is scheduled to hold a review meeting on Thursday in Chandigarh to finalize the plan, which will cover 10,426 hectares across 23 villages, including Mangar, Alampur, Gothra Mohabatabad, Sirohi, Pali, Dhauj and Kabulpur Bangar.
